The
Horns, Bell and One Crown survive today
The
earliest recorded reference to The Horns was in a army document
in 1756 which listed all the pubs in Watford for the benefit
of the soldiers who were billeted in and around Watford.

Two
major refurbishments took place in May 2002 and October 2003.
There is NOTHING of the original interior left except the oak
flooring in the front area of the bar & the pub's clock! We
went right back to the brickwork!

One
of the earliest photographs of The Horns shows a hay cart
on the Hempstead Road.

In
1968 the traffic problems look no different from today the
vehicles passed within feet of The Horns

The
Horns today
2004, no traffic, not even a hay cart in sight. |
This
map shows some of 33 pubs in the centre of Watford in 1756.
Only The Horns, Bell and One Crown survive today.
